Over a construction period of 15 years, the site of a large brewery in Berlin-Kreuzberg has been completely transformed into a showcase neighbourhood. The result is impressive – the old building fabric and new builds now complement each other to create a harmonious overall effect, with around 450 apartments and 50 commercial units.
The old Schultheiss brewery is now the Viktoria Quartier
Existing buildings were renovated and extended, whilst the new-builds are situated towards the edges of the site. On the aerial photograph, it is easy to see how the new buildings enclose the historic buildings. The underground car park beneath the Viktoria Quartier has made the district traffic-free. Hidden courtyards, cosy gardens and places to spend time show conclusively that high-density development can be highly attractive and has now become the urban development concept of the future.
The Penta Gruppe was key to the successful marketing of the condominium apartments for the developer Baywobau Berlin and is thus fully involved in the project’s success story.
